To be
  • The function of to be is explain noun, adverb and adjective.
Example:
  1. I am student. (noun)
  2. I am here.(adverb)
  3. I am happy.(adjective)

·        The kinds of to be in sentence
1.      Present tobe (am, is, are).
2.      Past tobe (was ware).
3.      Future tobe(be)
4.      Present Participle tobe (being).
5.      Past participle tobe (been).

Part Of Speech

  1. Noun (kata benda).
Nama orang (Ari, Budi, etc)
Nama Kota (Cikarang, bekasi, etc).
Nama benda (a chair, a table, etc)
Nama hewan (a cat, an elephant, etc)

Position of noun in the sentence always on Subject and Object
Example:

·        Apen goes to bekasi.
Apen = Subject.
Goes = verb.
To bekasi = adverb of place.
·        Budi is a singer.
Budi = subject.
Is = tobe.
A singer = noun.



  1. Adjective (kata sifat).
Fuction is explaining a noun.
Example:
Ariel is smart.
Alwi is a smart boy.

Adjective order
Example:
It’s an expensive brown rectangle Indonesian wooden table.
Itu adalah sebuah meja yang terbuat dari kayu buatan indonesiaberbentuk persegi panjang berwarna coklat yang mahal

  1. Adverb (kata keterangan).
    • Adverb of place =here, there, etc.
    • Adverb of time =today, yesterday, etc.
    • Adverb of manner =slowly, fast, hard, by bus, by running, etc.
    • Adverb of frequency = often, always, etc.

  1. Preposition (kata depan).
Question:
Where do you live?
Answer:
I live in cikarang on Thamrin Street at no 911.

Kinds of preposition:
1.      At = at night, at the office, at home, at the weekend, etc.
2.      On = on the table, on Sunday, on the fifth of November, etc.
3.      In = in 1945, in bekasi, etc.
